Join the campaign for literacy in Memphis and the Mid-South

Literacy is more than the ability to read and write--it is how we understand and interact with the world, keep ourselves and our families healthy, advocate for ourselves, and participate in our community.

For nearly 50 years, Literacy Mid-South has been providing literacy resources to learners of all backgrounds and ages. These services are essential to the continued success of Memphis, where one in seven adults have not acquired basic literacy skills and 78% of 3rd grade Memphis-Shelby County Schools students are missing the critical skills necessary for them to achieve success.

To address this, Literacy Mid-South works through multiple strategies and across the lifespan to achieve a singular vision: 100% literacy in the Mid-South.

Through a combination of efforts including resource distribution, tutoring services, capacity building, and collaborative action, LMS works to ensure learners across the lifespan have access to the literacy resources they need to live their best life.
